SMPP
Router
SMPP ROUTER is a server
that plays a dual role of both an SMPP server and an SMPP
client.
The Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) protocol is an open
industry standard messaging protocol designed to simplify
integration of data applications with wireless mobile
networks such as GSM, TDMA, CDMA and PDC. The protocol
is widely deployed in the mobile telecommunications industry,
not just for data applications but also for interconnecting
Short Message Centers, for shortest path routing of messages.
WiCoRe has integrated SMPP according to version 3.4 Specifications
in its Smart SMSC™. It has also used SMPP as an
interface for Mass messaging and Optimal SMS Routing by
Networks, where clients are assumed to be a separate Data
connection, connecting to the WiCoRe SMPP Server using
their SMPP clients.

As a server, WiCoRe SMPP Router, serves the clients by
providing them a user id and a password. Facilities for
setting credit limit and maintain individual client databases
are provided. Any client can connect only by using these
settings, user-id and password. They can use the facilities
provided by the Router especially for sending large volumes
of short messages, optimal SMS routing by mobile Networks,
etc. If any of the messages sent by the clients are undelivered,
on the request of the client it will clarify the reason.
If the client reaches his credit limit and requests to
extend the limit it will.
Messages can be routed between any client to any server
without the client actually having to know the transmission
route
It also offers reporting and billing capabilities.
It generates the reports by entering the Short Message
Entity’s Address and the choosen dates. Error
reports can also generated as the client requires using
the same procedure. Billing and tariffs can be set depending
on the network area.
